What is the ‘Line Detection’ Feature?
- The feature enables automatic detection of any lines directly within Takeoff Mode.
How to Use It
- Process the Document
- To detect Lines in any Takeoff Zone of the document, the document needs to be processed at least once.
- So the first step is to add at least one Takeoff Zone and run processing.
-
Run Line Detection
- Now Lines can be detected in any Takeoff Zone.
- Navigate to the desired Takeoff Zone and press ‘Detect Lines’ in either the Left Panel menu or the Properties Panel.

- Review Detected Lines
- Once the detection is complete, all detected Lines will be placed in a ‘Detected Lines’ Linear Measurement group.

- Organize Detected Lines
- From here, you can use Grouping Mode to separate detected Lines into groups as needed.
Steel Column Schedule Detection vs Line Detection
You can read the Steel Column Schedule Detection article here.
The main difference between the two features is that in Line Detection all kinds of lines get detected, as opposed to only vertical lines of a specific width of in Line Detection.
Planned Improvements
Here are some improvements we are planning to implement in the following iterations:
- Dedicated ‘Lines’ Type – A specialized measurement type will be presented.
- Line Detection During Processing – Line detection will be integrated into processing, eliminating extra wait time.
- Custom Length/Height Filters – Users will be able to define minimum line parameters for detection.
